Sliding (2023)

This is the new Moomin Arabian Winter 2023 seasonal bowl, Sliding. The bolg is part of the Winter 2023 seasonal collection, which also includes a matching bowl. This new Moomin winter seasonal tableware continues the story in the spirit of the 2022 seasonal collection and maintains its pastel color palette. The mug and the bowl will be available for sale on October 6, 2023, during the winter season. This collection continues the story of the previous winter collection, in which Mr. Brisk arrived in Moominvalley with a passion for winter sports. The story is based on Tove Jansson's comic Moomin’s Winter Follies, which was first published in 1955. In the illustrations of the tableware, we see various characters enjoying downhill skiing in their unique styles. On the front of the bowl, Moomintroll is equipped with skis, while Moominpappa enjoys the thrill of sliding down on his belly. In the wintry scenes, you can also spot Samu, a dark-furred character who bears a resemblance to Sniff. Samu has often played a supporting role in the comics, but he became part of the Moomin tableware for the first time in the Winter Bonfire seasonal collection in 2008. On the other side of the illustration, you can see Mr. Brisk and the walrus Edward competing in a downhill race, both wearing helmets for safety. Edward is seen in Moomin dishes for the first time and only appears in Tove Jansson's comics in the Moomin’s Winter Follies story. The Sliding mug and bowl complements the Winter Wonders seasonal dishes from winter 2022, as they share the same pastel color palette. The sky is delicately pink, and the clouds are a light blue. The use of lines is characteristic of Tove Jansson’s drawing style, and the bright colouring of the details of the characters’ clothing gives the collection a fresh look.
