As the first Moominvalley theme park outside Finland was opened in Japan, Arabia launched an exclusive Moomin mug to be sold only at the theme park in Hanno. The mug was discontinued in 2022. The original images of the characters are from an advertisement designed for Föreningsbanken by Tove Jansson in 1956. The art on the background of the mug is from Tove Jansson’s comic strip #4 Moomin’s Desert Island. In addition to Arabia’s bottom stamp, this special mug has a Moominvalley Park logo on the bottom. The logo was designed by a member of Tove Jansson’s family - a Finnish designer James Zambra.

Who designs the illustrations for the Moomin mugs?
Tove Slotte, born in 1957, is a Finnish artist and a graphic designer. She is a professional ceramist. Tove Slotte worked at Arabia from 1985 to 1990, after which she has worked as a freelance designer. She is best known for designing and illustrating the Moomin products for Iittala and Arabia ceramics. Tove Slotte has been a Moomin fan since her childhood. She says her favourite Moomin book is The Book about Moomin, Mymble and Little My. Tove Slotte has designed the Moomin products for Arabia for more than 30 years.
