An updated version of the original Mug Blue was launched on September 15th, 2021. The original mug is also known as Painting Moomins. This mug has the same images than the mug in the 1990s, but the order of the images is slightly different. The most noticeable difference to the original is the size; All the earlier Moomin mugs hold the capacity of 0,3 litres, but the new Mug Blue is slightly bigger, holding 0,4 litres. One of the images in the mug is the painting Moomintroll, just like it is in the bottom stamp in each of the Moomin mugs. It is originally from a logo seen in the covers of the Moomin comic books. The other images are from Tove Jansson’s comic #20 Moomin Under Sail, as well as from the novel Moominpappa at Sea and Lars Jansson’s comic strip #31 Artists in Moomin Valley.
