This mug has been known as Mug Rose as well as Rose Comic Strip. The mug was in production from 1990 to 1993. The design is similar to the design in the first one, Green Comic strip (Mug Green). The original artwork is from Tove Jansson's comic #9 Moomin Falls in Love. In the comic strip we meet Moomintroll trying to impress Snorkmaiden, quite successfully. Colouring experiments were made on the first three mugs. They tried burnt pigments with three different tones, of which only one was chosen for production. Mug Green, Mug Blue and Mug Rose were all launched at the same time in 1990. To this day Mug Green and Mug Rose are the only mugs picturing a full comic strip. "I feel the light yellow and the blue mugs are more balanced than the comic strip mugs. I believe the consumers agreed with me, as the production of the comic strip mugs was discontinued after just a couple of years, and similar designs haven't been made since", says Tove Slotte.
