Mug Winter Forest is the 2012 seasonal winter mug. The mug was sold during the winter of 2012-2013. Tove Slotte combined several pieces of art in the mug design. She chose the original images from Lars Jansson’s comic strip #41 Moomin and Aunt Jane. The Little My in the mug is originally from Tove and Lars Jansson’s comic strip #17 Moomin and the Comet. The reindeer seen in the mug was inspired by a letter. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had ordered a letter from Tove Jansson in 1963 to be handed out as answers to children who had written letters to Santa Claus in Finland. Just like in the previous year, sets of decorative miniature mugs were manufactured and sold as sets of four. Moominpappa and Little My are pictured in these miniature products. Seasonal stickers have been used in the mugs since 2006.

Who designs the illustrations for the Moomin mugs?
Tove Slotte, born in 1957, is a Finnish artist and a graphic designer. She is a professional ceramist. Tove Slotte worked at Arabia from 1985 to 1990, after which she has worked as a freelance designer. She is best known for designing and illustrating the Moomin products for Iittala and Arabia ceramics. Tove Slotte has been a Moomin fan since her childhood. She says her favourite Moomin book is The Book about Moomin, Mymble and Little My. Tove Slotte has designed the Moomin products for Arabia for more than 30 years.
