The Summer 2025 seasonal mug Beach Day continues the tradition of previous summer mugs by depicting the Moomins enjoying summery activities. This illustration features familiar characters from the Moomin family having a picnic on the beach. The mug is also known as On the Beach (as seen on the sticker), but it should not be confused with the 2008 On the Beach mug. The Summer 2025 seasonal collection includes not only the mug and plate, but also beach textiles and a renewed series of drinking glasses featuring new summer-themed illustrations. The artwork on the mug is based on the comic strip The Proposal by Tove and Lars Jansson from 1959. The composition for the Beach Day mug was designed by Parvati Pillai, a designer at Moomin Arabia. Pillai explains that the illustration aims to capture the light-hearted atmosphere of a carefree summer day at the beach.

Who designs the illustrations for the Moomin mugs?
Tove Slotte, born in 1957, is a Finnish artist and a graphic designer. She is a professional ceramist. Tove Slotte worked at Arabia from 1985 to 1990, after which she has worked as a freelance designer. She is best known for designing and illustrating the Moomin products for Iittala and Arabia ceramics. Tove Slotte has been a Moomin fan since her childhood. She says her favourite Moomin book is The Book about Moomin, Mymble and Little My. Tove Slotte has designed the Moomin products for Arabia for more than 30 years.
