The Home Moomin mug is a true collector’s gem, as no two are alike. It has been produced as a special edition of 8,000 pieces, each hand-painted and unique. Additionally, the bottom of each mug features the Moomin 80 anniversary stamp, a running number indicating its limited edition, and the initials of the artisan who painted it. The illustration on the mug represents the deeply emotional story of the very first Moomin tale, The Moomins and the Great Flood, which Tove Jansson wrote during World War II. Writing this fairy tale with a happy ending brought comfort during difficult times. What makes the Home mug so special? - It comes in a gift box featuring a Moominhouse illustration. - The bottom of the mug includes a running number from 1 to 8,000, the Moomin 80 anniversary stamp, and the initials of the artisan who painted it. - Each mug is a hand-painted unique item (no two are alike). How to get your own mug You have two ways to acquire this unique Home mug. You can participate in the purchase lottery at the Moomin Arabia store in Helsinki’s Esplanade or other Moomin Arabia stores worldwide, starting in December 2024. The lottery sale will begin in the Moomin Arabia online store for Moomin Arabia Family members on March 12, 2025, and will continue until March 17, 2025. Good to know The first two mugs of the numbered special edition have already found their homes. Mug number one was gifted to the “First Lady” of the Moomins’ homeland, the spouse of the President of the Republic, Suzanne Innes-Stubb, and mug number two to Tove Jansson’s niece, Sophia Jansson. Fiskars Group CEO Nathalie Ahlström presented the mugs to their new owners at the opening of the Tove Jansson – Paradise art exhibition at HAM Helsinki Art Museum on October 24, 2024.
