The 2025 Moomin’s Day mug is a tribute to the very first Moomin story, The Moomins and the Great Flood. The mug will be released on Moomin’s Day, 9 August, at 10:00 (GMT+2). As always, it will be available in a limited edition, with a purchase limit of 6 mugs per customer. The mug will be available from the Moomin Arabia online store as well as selected Iittala stores. Before and around Moomin’s Day, a limited selection of other celebratory Moomin’s Day products will also be launched, including Classic mugs with the special “Moomin 80” stamp and a collector-oriented Moomin mug book. The mug’s illustration shows the very first Moomins as they originally appeared – with narrow snouts and less rounded features, yet already gentle and adventurous creatures with their own recognisable ways. The illustration, created by Pillai, closely follows Tove Jansson’s original story and the details of her drawings. However, the original black-and-white images have been given charming pastel tones.
