The mug was released in 1999. The mug created a new style, presenting the Moomin characters from both sides - front and back. This mug was discontinued in 2013. The designer team at Arabia came to the conclusion that some change was needed to make it easier to tell the mugs apart. For the first character mugs Tove Slotte chose Moomintroll, Moominmamma, Moominpappa and Little My. The black colour was a sophisticated choice and fit perfectly with Moominpappa’s top hat. The mug has become especially popular amongst fathers of young children. Both images in the mug are originally from Tove Jansson’s comic #12 Moomin and the Sea.
