The Winternight Glow Moomin mug is a 0.3-litre limited-edition special mug released in 2026 as a collaboration between Moomin Arabia and the Moomin Museum in Tampere, Finland. The mug forms a wintry counterpart to the Moominvalley mug released in 2017 and is the second Moomin mug created by Moomin Arabia in collaboration with the Moomin Museum. The illustration on the Winternight Glow mug is based on an original gouache painting by Tove Jansson from 1972, created for the cover of the French edition of her 1957 novel Moominland Midwinter. The illustration shows Moomintroll encountering The Groke in the middle of a snowy winter night. The scene is connected to the story of Moominland Midwinter, in which Moomintroll wakes from hibernation and experiences winter for the first time, encountering new and sometimes frightening things along the way. The mug is first sold at the Moomin Museum in Tampere, where the limited edition is available exclusively from 26 September to 25 October 2026. Wider sales of the Winternight Glow mug begin on 26 October 2026 through Moomin Arabia's own sales channels and selected retailers. The original gouache painting was adapted to the shape of the mug by Moomin Arabia illustrator Parvati Pillai. The colourful illustration based on the painting gives the Winternight Glow mug a distinctive style compared with most Moomin mugs, whose illustrations are based on Tove Jansson's line drawings. The limited-edition mug also features a special back stamp.
