Moomin POP mugs are a new mug series released by Moomin Arabia in 2025, available exclusively in Japan. Each POP mug holds 0.3 liters, and the launch collection includes four character mugs: Snufkin, Moomintroll, Little My, and Snorkmaiden.

Inside every POP mug, you’ll find a small speech bubble with an English quote characteristic of the featured character – a charming detail that makes each mug special.

Unlike earlier Arabia Moomin mugs, the POP series is not based on Kaj Franck’s Teema design, but on the Mainio model designed by Irina Viippola in 2018. POP mugs are also made of stoneware and feature several unique details: on the bottom, the familiar painting Moomintroll has been replaced by a painting Little My.

POP mugs come without stickers and are sold in individual gift boxes. They are microwave and oven safe, but hand washing is recommended.

The first ceramic Moomin bowls manufactured by Arabia appeared in 2004. Arabia released a total of nine different Moomin bowls with illustrations familiar from Moomin mugs. Colorful bowls brighten up the setting of the breakfast table, for example.

Illustrator and graphic artist Tove Slotte has designed, edited and composed Tove Jansson's original illustrations and drawings to fit the Arabia Moomin ceramics.

Moomin Arabias HARU-kolleksjon ble lansert våren 2024. Serviset består av ni deler, som gjør det enkelt å skape en tidløst vakker borddekning.

Arabia released the first Moomin wall plates already in 1990. New wall plates were released until 2005, and the production of the last wall plates were discontinued in 2007. Due to their beautiful illustrations, these are suitable for decorating a wall in, for example, a kitchen, a children's room or a cottage.

Wall plates come in a few different sizes and their diameters vary between 12 cm and 19.5 cm.

The Moomin by Arabia wall tiles can be divided into three entities. In the 90s, a 6-piece set "Who will comfort Toffle?" was released with the production limited to a batch of 10,000 pieces.

Another 6-piece set from the 90s consists of wood-framed wall tiles that were only available through Arabia Fantasy mail order. The illustrations of these wall tiles were designed by Camilla Moberg.

In the 2010s, Arabia released a 13-piece wall-mounted interior set, the Moomin Decoration tree. Each wall tile has an illustration of one or more Moominvalley resident.

The first ceramic Moomin figurines appeared between 1956 and 1963. Leo Tykkyläinen manufactured around 15,000 handmade small Moomin figurines for sale to Stockmann. These are commonly known as the Moomin figurines of the 1950s. The rights of these figurines were transferred to Arabia in 1964.

After a few decades of hiatus, Arabia started producing Moomin figurines in the 1990s. The new figurines were designed by Tuulikki Pietilä. Since the 2000s, Moomin figurines have been designed by Tove Slotte.

Moomin ceramics manufactured by Arabia have their roots in children's dishes from the 1950s, when Arabia released two children's mugs and a shallow and deep plate. These 50s Moomin dishes, which were only in production for a short time, have become real collectible rarities. The illustrations of these dishes are designed by Tove Jansson.

The next Moomin children's tableware and children's mugs did not appear until the 90s. Typically, children's tableware includes a children's mug and a plate.

Arabia started making Moomin pitchers in 1995 with a pitcher belonging to the 'Merry Family' tableware series. The more regular appearance of new and slightly larger pitchers could be expected until the 2010s.

Beautiful Moomin pitchers cheer up the table setting, as the vast majority of them are quite colorful. They work not only as juice jugs but also as flower vases.

Arabia started the production of Moomin mini mugs in 2011, when the first decoration-sized mugs appeared together with the Moomin Winter Games season mug. From then on, mini mugs sold in packs of four became an annual winter season tradition. In addition, Arabia has released character-themed mini mugs in packages of six mugs.

Moomin mini mugs are popular decorative and gift items. The height of the mini mug is 3 cm and the volume is 12 ml, so it is considerably smaller than a regular espresso cup.

Arabia has occasionally released Moomin items not related to the common Moomin product categories since the 1990s. The most valuable and rarest of these is the ceramic Moomin house piggy bank.

The first ceramic Teema-style lighthouse mugs produced by Arabia appeared in 2002. Only 500 batches of the first mugs were produced, so over the years they have become collector's rarities.

The mugs are illustrated by Anneli Stenros. The mugs are also popular with Moomin collectors, as the Moomin House is inspired by the lighthouse tower in Glosholm, near which Tove Jansson spent her childhood summers.

In the honour and celebration of Stockmann’s 150th anniversary Arabia launched also a jar in 2017.

The design for the jar was found from a wrapping paper model Tove Jansson had designed for Stockmann in the late 1950s. The original texts were carefully removed from the flags and the bows, but Stockmann’s logo is still seen in Moominmamma’s handbag.
