Between 1956 and 1963, ceramics artist Leo Tykkyläinen made approximately 15,000 Moomin figurines of ten different Moomin characters in his workshop. There are several color variations for each character, and the size of the figurines varies slightly. Every figurine is unique. Leo Tykkyläinen was a ceramics artist, famous for making Moomin figurines to be sold in the Stockmann department store in Helsinki from the late 1950s to the early 60s. In 1964 Tykkyläinen started working at Arabia's factory, and the manufacturing rights of the figurines were transferred to Arabia at the same time.

Arabia
Arabia was founded in 1873 as a Finnish subsidiary of the Swedish company Rörstrand. In 1916, ownership of the company shifted to Finland. From 1947 to 1990, Arabia was owned by Wärtsilä Oy, followed by a period of ownership by Hackman until 2007. Since 2007, Arabia has been owned by Fiskars. Fiskars ceased the production of ceramics in Finland in 2016; since then, all tableware under the Arabia brand has been manufactured abroad.

Leo Tykkyläinen was a ceramics artist, famous for making Moomin figurines to be sold in the Stockmann department store in Helsinki from the late 1950s to the early 60s. Between 1956 and 1963, ceramics artist Leo Tykkyläinen made approximately 15,000 Moomin figurines of ten different Moomin characters in his workshop in Maunula, Helsinki. In 1964 Tykkyläinen started working at Arabia's factory, and the manufacturing rights of the figurines were transferred to Arabia at the same time.

The Police Inspector is not quite as stubborn as the botanist Hemulen. He has more patience and understanding towards others. On the other hand he is a typical hemulen, who enjoys plants and collecting. He always wears his dark blue coat, a scarf around his neck and a police helmet on his head.
