Moomin Jar Summer Dance is part of Moomin Arabia’s special collection for 2026, released exclusively for the Swedish market. The jar becomes available on May 20, 2026, and will only be sold during 2026 or while stocks last. The jar has a capacity of 0.7 litres. Summer Dance launches a new series of country-specific Moomin collections by Moomin Arabia. The illustration on the Summer Dance jar features the residents of Moominvalley dancing in a sea of flowers against a light blue sky-like background. The artwork captures the atmosphere of summer celebrations and Midsummer festivities, highlighted by the flower crowns worn by Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden as well as the bright sun shining in the background. The collection’s summery colour palette and festive mood make it especially fitting for summer cottages, gardens and picnics. The main inspiration for the illustration comes from the Tove and Lars Jansson comic story Moomin and the Scouts (1961). In the story, Moomintroll falls in love with a scout girl, who eventually becomes interested in him after he saves her life. However, a jealous Snorkmaiden reveals some of Moomintroll’s unusual habits, causing the scout girl to leave him and take up folk dancing with her new crush. In the end, Moomintroll returns to Snorkmaiden, and together they dance in a flower meadow. The collection’s illustration also includes elements inspired by Tove Jansson’s comic stories Moomin Family and the Sea (1957) and Moomin Begins a New Life (1956).

Characters

Moomintroll

Moomintroll

Moomintroll is a lovable and happy creature, and he longs for adventure. He is always at the heart of the event. He cares for his friends very much, and wants everyone around him to be happy. Just like the other Moomins, Moomintroll loves the sea. Moomintroll is a great combination of his parents: He is brave and adventurous like Moominpappa, as well as kind and compassionate like Moominmamma. The best place in the world for Moomintroll is Moominvalley, and he never fails to find an adventure. His fearlessness and longing for adventure sometimes carry him out of the Valley. Moomintroll is a roundish character, and he has a tussle at the end of his tail. In spite of his young age, Moomintroll has experienced the highs and lows of romance with his girlfriend Snorkmaiden. Moomintroll first appeared in Tove Jansson’s novel The Moomins and the Great Flood.

Sniff

Sniff

Known as a little bit fearful and very kind person, Sniff is often included in the adventures of the Moomin family. He also lives at the Moomin house. Sniff loves everything shiny and valuable, and is sometimes quite infatuated by such things. He dreams of riches and wealth, but so far his plans haven’t paid off. Sniff also loves food, and where there is a delicious smelling dinner, that’s where Sniff is found. Unlike many inhabitants of Moominvalley, Sniff dreads water. Sniff is quick to get excited about things, but if any effort is needed to carry out a plan, he gets bored even more quickly. Sniff’s parents Muddler and Fuzzy lost him when he was very young. The Moomin family found him by chance and took him in. Sniff has pointy ears and a long tail. He was first seen in Tove Jansson’s novel The Moomins and the Great Flood.

Snorkmaiden

Snorkmaiden

Snorkmaiden is young and a bit of an erratic personality, always full of surprises. Snorkmaiden is Moomintroll’s friend and his love interest. Snorkmaiden has a brother called Snork, and they belong in the family of Snorks. The snorks change their colouring according to their emotions, and Snorkmaiden turns pale green when she gets upset. Snorkmaiden is an eternal dreamer, who often daydreams of romance and the prince of her dreams. Her vain and flirtatious nature might seem annoying to the others from time to time, but sometimes her stubbornness turns out to be very useful. Snorkmaiden has lovely golden coloured bangs, and a golden anklet. Snorkmaiden first appeared in Tove Jansson’s novel Comet in Moominland.
